Check into your hotel and freshen up. In the afternoon, visit the world-renowned Dambulla Cave Temple, also called the Golden Temple of Dambulla. This UNESCO site houses over 150 Buddha statues, intricate cave murals, and stunning rock-carved shrines. Return by evening to relax at your hotel, enjoy dinner, and unwind after your journey. After breakfast, depart for the majestic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, also called the “Lion Rock.” Ascend this UNESCO World Heritage Site to discover ancient frescoes, water gardens, and ruins of King Kashyapa’s palace atop the summit. After descending, stop for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to the tranquil Ritigala Forest Monastery. Walk among ancient stone ruins hidden under the jungle canopy, once home to ascetic monks. This serene site offers both history and nature. Return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Dambulla / Habarana.
Enjoy breakfast and set off towards Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka. En route, stop in Matale to explore a spice garden, where you’ll learn about cinnamon, cardamom, and medicinal herbs, with a herbal tea tasting included. Arrive in Kandy by early afternoon and check into your hotel. Later, visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of Buddhism’s holiest shrines and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the evening, experience a vibrant Kandyan cultural dance performance before returning to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, drive back to Colombo (approx. 3 hrs). On arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a guided city tour, beginning with the seaside promenade at Galle Face Green and the historic Pettah Market. Visit Gangaramaya Temple, Independence Memorial Hall, and admire colonial architecture in the Fort area. Conclude with shopping at Odel, House of Fashion, or Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct. Evening at leisure for fine dining or nightlife. Overnight stay in Colombo.
Enjoy your final breakfast at the hotel. Depending on your flight schedule, you may relax, do some last-minute shopping, or enjoy a quiet café visit. Later, transfer to Colombo International Airport for your onward flight. Bid farewell to Sri Lanka, carrying memories of its sacred temples, ancient fortresses, and cultural treasures.
