Northern Light Experience

Upon arrival in Yellowknife, the capital city of the Northwest Territories, you will be transferred to The Explorer Hotel, the city’s largest full-service hotel, where you will spend the next four nights. Take some time to relax and settle in before enjoying dinner at a local restaurant. Later in the evening, set out at 9:30 PM for your first magical night of aurora viewing. A snow-tracking van will take you to a cozy cabin on the shores of Great Slave Lake, where you will stay warm by the fire while watching the northern sky dance with colors. Return to your hotel by around 1:30 AM

After a hearty buffet breakfast at the hotel, your morning begins with an enriching Aboriginal Cultural Tour. Travel through the communities of Yellowknife, Dettah, and N’dilo as you learn about the traditions and lifestyle of the Dene people. Visit the B. Dene Adventures’ camp where you will experience drumming, hand games, storytelling, and sample traditional food. After dinner at a local restaurant, embark on another unforgettable northern lights adventure. Departing at 9:00 PM, a van will take you along the Ingraham Trail to a designated aurora-viewing cabin where a crackling wood stove, hot beverages, and snacks await. Return to your hotel around 1:30 AM.

Start your day with breakfast before setting out on a three-hour Ice Caves Tour. Begin at the historic Giant Mine Heritage Site, where ravens soar over the Back Bay cliffs. Continue to the secret local ice cave, a breathtaking natural wonder where you can even strum frozen icicles like musical strings. A short walk will also take you to Yellowknife’s old cemetery with sweeping views of Great Slave Lake. Hiking poles and anti-slip gear will be provided for comfort and safety. After dinner, prepare for an enchanting evening at Aurora Village. Warm teepees heated by wood stoves and hot drinks create the perfect setting to witness the aurora borealis shimmering across the sky

Following breakfast, join a guided City Tour of Yellowknife, tracing its transformation from a humble gold mining town of the 1930s to today’s diamond capital. Explore local art, culture, and unique landmarks during this two-hour journey with local experts. In the afternoon, you may choose to add an optional dog sledding adventure for a thrilling ride across snow trails with a traditional husky team. Experience the joy of gliding across the pristine landscape on authentic wooden sleds, a practice rooted in Aboriginal tradition. End the day with dinner at a local restaurant and enjoy your final evening in Yellowknife.
