7 Days / 6 Nights – FIT Tour
Arrive at Bagdogra/NJP and meet your chauffeur for a scenic drive to Gangtok past tea gardens and river valleys. Check into your hotel by early afternoon and unwind. Post lunch, keep it light: wander the neighborhood and then stroll MG Marg—a pedestrian boulevard with cafés, bakeries, and handicraft stores. Sample local momos, thukpa, or sel roti; pick up prayer flags and fridge magnets. As dusk settles, enjoy the ambient street lighting and cool hill breeze. Dinner at the hotel or a recommended eatery. Overnight in Gangtok.
After an early breakfast, drive to sacred Tsomgo (Changu) Lake (12,400 ft) where prayer flags ripple over mirrored waters—watch for Brahminy ducks. Choose an optional yak ride, sip hot butter tea, and soak in alpine serenity. Continue to Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir for a quiet, heartfelt stop. Optionally extend to Nathula Pass (permit/slots, Indian nationals; weather/defence dependent). Begin return by early afternoon, allowing photo halts at viewpoints. Reach Gangtok by late afternoon; evening free on MG Marg for shopping and local delicacies. Overnight in Gangtok. (Alternate local sightseeing is arranged if roads close.)
Post breakfast, set out on the North Sikkim highway toward Lachen, pausing at Chungthang for lunch. Landscapes shift from terraced fields to deep cedar and rhododendron forests. On arrival, check into your cozy lodge, sip welcome tea, and stroll the quiet lanes—peek into a Lepcha hamlet or simply watch cloud plays over serrated ridges. Nights turn crisp; layer up and sleep early to prep for tomorrow’s high-altitude outing. Dinner is simple and hearty—think local greens and hot soup—to keep you warm. Overnight in Lachen.
Leave by 6:00 AM for Gurudongmar Lake (~17,800 ft)—a windswept, sacred expanse set against stark ochre mountains. Keep halts short in thin air; walk slowly, hydrate, and avoid exertion. After darshan and photographs, return to Lachen for an early lunch. Continue to Lachung via alpine valleys and waterfalls; check in by late afternoon. If time allows, visit tranquil Lachung Monastery for evening chants. Warm up with kahwa or ginger tea and enjoy dinner at the lodge. Overnight in Lachung.
After breakfast, drive to Yumthang (Valley of Flowers)—a high meadow rimmed by snow peaks and rhododendron slopes (bloom: Apr–Jun). In winter, expect snow meadows and crystalline air. Optional detours include Yumesamdong/Zero Point (if roads/permits allow) and a soak at the rustic hot spring (carry sandals/towel). Return to Lachung by early afternoon for lunch and relaxation. Spend a lazy evening amid cedar scents, or revisit the monastery for twilight photos. Dinner and overnight in Lachung.
Depart after breakfast and trace the valley south, pausing between Singhik–Mangan for clear-day vistas of Mt. Khangchendzonga, Pandim, Kabru, and Siniolchu. Expect tea and restroom stops at scenic lay-bys. Arrive Gangtok by late afternoon and check in. Evening is yours: café-hop on MG Marg, browse handloom stores, or simply rest with a cup of estate tea. Dinner at the hotel; overnight in Gangtok, refreshed after your North Sikkim loop.
Enjoy an early breakfast and start by 7:00 AM for Bagdogra Airport/NJP with a prudent buffer for hill traffic or fog. Relive a week’s worth of mountain light, prayer flags, and alpine lakes as you descend through tea gardens—memories neatly packed alongside your souvenirs.
