6 Days / 5 Nights – FIT Tour
Arrive at Bagdogra/NJP and drive through emerald tea gardens and rolling foothills to Gangtok, reaching around 1:00–2:00 PM for check-in and a light rest. Post-lunch, wander the neighborhood to get your bearings, then head to MG Marg by late afternoon for a relaxed, traffic-free promenade lined with cafés and boutiques. Sample momos or thukpa, browse for souvenirs, and feel the city’s easy rhythm. Return to the hotel for a cozy dinner. Overnight in Gangtok, perfectly acclimatized for tomorrow’s alpine excursion.
After breakfast, depart 8:30 AM for the sacred, glacial Tsomgo (Changu) Lake (12,400 ft), watching forests give way to alpine scrub and fluttering prayer flags. Stroll the lakeside boardwalks, photograph Brahminy ducks, or choose an optional yak ride. Continue to the revered Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir for quiet reflection. Post a simple lunch at a local eatery, begin the return with brief viewpoint/photo stops. Reach Gangtok by 5:00 PM; evening free for MG Marg, local snacks, or rest. (If roads close due to weather/landslides, we’ll arrange alternate local sightseeing.)
Check out after breakfast for a scenic drive to Pelling, rolling past cardamom groves and mist-clad ridges. Check in around 11:30 AM and, after lunch, visit Rimbi Waterfalls and the nearby orange gardens for fragrant valley views. Pause at the sacred wish lake, where locals whisper hopes beneath pines, then continue to the helipad viewpoint for broad Himalayan vistas (weather permitting). Browse small markets for prayer flags and local pickles before a warm dinner. Overnight in Pelling, wrapped in cool mountain air.
Post breakfast, depart for Darjeeling, the “Queen of Hills,” arriving around 12:30–1:00 PM for check-in and lunch. Spend a gentle afternoon with an optional tea estate walk (extra) to learn plucking and terroir, or simply savor estate brews with views. As dusk cools the ridge, amble through Chowrasta & Mall Road, browsing bookshops and bakeries. Dinner at a local restaurant or your hotel, then rest well for an early alpine start tomorrow. Overnight in Darjeeling.
Begin 3:45 AM for Tiger Hill; watch first light paint Kanchenjunga and neighboring peaks. Return via Ghoom Monastery and the spiral Batasia Loop & War Memorial. After breakfast, continue to Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (home to red pandas; closed Thu) and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute museum. Later, float over valleys on the Darjeeling Ropeway (weather/queue permitting), see Tenzing & Gombu Rock, the Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre (closed Sun), and a tea estate outlet. End at the tranquil Peace Pagoda. Evening free on Mall Road. Overnight in Darjeeling.
After breakfast around 8:00 AM, enjoy a relaxed morning for last-minute tea shopping or a stroll on Mall Road. Check out by 11:00 AM and begin your transfer to your onward point: Darjeeling → Bagdogra (IXB): ≈68 km / 3–4 hrs or Darjeeling → NJP: ≈72 km / 3–4 hrs. Allow extra buffer for hill traffic, fog, or monsoon showers. Arrive at the airport/railway station 60–90 minutes before departure. Continue your journey carrying fragrant teas, mountain views, and warm memories of Sikkim–Darjeeling.
